Which formats can I convert to and from PDF?

Will formatting survive the conversion?
It depends on the tool. Text is carried over, but layout details such as images, tables and custom fonts are not always reproduced. Each tool page lists what is and isn't preserved, so check it before converting an important document.
Are my files uploaded when I use these tools?

Can I convert a scanned PDF?
A scan is a picture of text rather than text itself, so tools that read text — PDF to Word and PDF to Excel — need the scan run through OCR first. OCR PDF is in the PDF Extractor group.
