Privacy Policy

Every tool on SmilingPDF runs client-side using WebAssembly and the Web APIs built into your browser. When you drop a file, it is loaded into memory on your device and processed there. Nothing is sent to our servers, so there is no copy for us to store.

When you close the tab, the file and any output are discarded. You can check this yourself: open your browser's developer tools, switch to the Network tab and use a tool — no request carries your file.

Usage analytics. We use Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages and tools are used and where the site is slow. It records things like the pages you view, the tool you used, your approximate location, and your device and browser type. It never receives your files or what is in them. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga) to tell one visit from another; you can block them in your browser or with an extension, and the site works the same without them.

Hosting logs. The site is served by Vercel, which — like any web host — keeps standard request logs, such as the IP address and the pages requested. Those logs describe visits to the site; they cannot contain your documents, because we never receive them.

Payments. If you subscribe to premium, our payment processor (Stripe) receives the information required to complete the transaction. We do not see or store your card details.

We do not sell your data.

A few tools need something from the internet to do their job. None of these requests carries your file.

• OCR PDF: the first time you use it, your browser downloads the text-recognition engine and the language data for the language you chose from the jsDelivr content-delivery network. It is an ordinary download of a software file; your pages are not sent.
• HTML to PDF, URL option: your browser requests the page directly from its own website. Nothing is routed through SmilingPDF, and some sites block the request.

We keep a small number of first-party entries in your browser to remember your theme preference, premium status and recent tools. Google Analytics sets its own cookies, as described above.

Two tools keep your own work in your browser's local storage so it is there when you come back: saved workflows in the PDF Workspace, and the draft you type into the Resume Builder. That storage stays on your device. It is never sent to us, and clearing your browser data (or the tool's Clear all button) removes it.

We do not currently show advertising. If that changes, advertising partners may set cookies of their own, and we will update this page before any ads appear.
