What does flattening a PDF do?
Each form field's current value — the text someone typed, the box they checked — is drawn directly onto the page as permanent content, and the field itself is removed. The PDF looks identical, but it can no longer be edited, refilled, or have its values read back out by software.
Why would I want to do this?
It's the difference between a live form and a finished document. Once someone has filled it out, flattening turns it into a fixed, tamper-evident record — good for sharing, printing, or archiving a signed or completed form.
Can I undo flattening afterwards?
No — once a field is flattened, its underlying form field is gone for good in the output file. Keep your original if you might need to edit the form again later.
What if my PDF has no form fields?
You'll get a clear message saying there's nothing to flatten, rather than a file that looks processed but never actually changed.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
